Volunteer Opportunities

Move Crew

We are seeking Move Crew volunteers to help us welcome our on-campus residents. Move Crew volunteers will greet students, unload items, and deliver student’s belongings to their rooms. We need your help for both of our Summer Bridge move-in days (August 14 and 15) as well as our traditional fall move-in days (August 21 and 22). For more details and to sign up, please fill out our form using the link below.

Volunteer for Move Crew

Please note: If you or your group have any volunteers who are not able to lift and move residents’ items, we still need your help. There several new Move Crew positions for those individuals and we will assign them based on the necessary accommodations. Please contact Madelin Willis (willmade@iupui.edu) if this applies to you or members in your group.

Yes. We welcome organizations from outside of the university to help us welcome students to campus. All organizations must be approved by Housing and Residence Life.

This year HRL is unable to provide t-shirts for volunteers. Volunteers are encouraged to wear shirts that highlight the organization they are volunteering, provided that the apparel is appropriate and not otherwise objectionable. Volunteers are also welcome to wear IUPUI spirit wear.

Move Crew shifts for each day are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Based on how many students sign up for move-in times on each day, shifts may end earlier than 3:30 p.m. Volunteers who are not able to stay for the full shift need to notify Madelin Willis (willmade@iupui.edubeforehand.

Each volunteer will be provided a wristband for each day of move-in. While assisting parents and students, all volunteers should be wearing the wristbands.

We will have water and individually packaged snacks available for Move Crew volunteers. Volunteers will be assigned a 30-minute break during their shift where they can relax and eat in the Move Crew break room at the facility they are volunteering.
